From the 14th to the 16th of December, 2012 our delegation successfully participated in the fifth annual IsarMUN conference. Held on the shores of beautiful Lake Starnberg, the conference has been a realistic and challenging portrayal of the United Nations. But perhaps even more than that, it captured the unifying spirit of MUNs all over the world, by promoting the profound ideals laid forth in the UN charter: our common responsibility for lasting peace and human progress.

Similar to the years before, the conference offered the perfect environment for our delegation to test our potential and our abilities since it was the first real MUN conference for most of us. The conference demanded creativity, initiative, the willingness to compromise and teamwork. Since every delegate tried to get through the interests of his own country, one’s social and intercultural competencies were trained thoroughly. Additionally, great friendships and experiences were created, that most of us will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Our faculty advisor Chong Su Choi, has supported the conference as chairs in the United Nations Human Rights Council, enriching the conference with their great experience.

Besides the simulations there has been a public Q&A session with two highly important political characters. This opened the great possibility to find out about their opinions on the latest topics and created an insight into work-lives in a political career. On the last night there has been a celebration, proving the delegates ability to make the most of these intense three days by great spare time usage and continuing hard work during the conference.

Thanks to everyone who made this conference, but also every other conference and the whole year to an unforgettable experience.

P.S. After the conference is before the conference and our team already started preparing for the next year, this time again organizing the IsarMUN, which will be hold 13th to 15th December 2013.

Warm Regards,

Dominik Getzinger
